ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION SUB-AWARD GRANT - THE GRANT IS CLOSED

 

Overview: Through the Nature Explorers Club program, BVF seeks to provide sub-awards in an effort to develop a nonprofit and agency alliance of sustainable partners to increase the public awareness of the Clean Water Act and public stewards in marine environment and sea turtle conservation.  The alliance which will be called the Nature Explorers' Club:Environmental Alliance (NECEA), will award nonprofits that serve youths recruited from underserved communities and will develop the club to conduct activities such as turtle nest monitoring, beach clean-ups, youth-produced Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and other environmental stewardship and outreach activities. Awarded organizations will received technical assistance and other support for program expenses related to activities conducted.

 

 

Number of awards:                                4 (2-St. Thomas/St. John/Water Island; 2-St. Croix)

Amount of awards:                                $3,500 - $5,200 est/ cash award; $2,300 Other support 

Cost-sharing or Matching:                      Yes.  Cash and In-kind Contribution

Application announcement:                    June 10, 2012

Application deadline:                              June 29, 2012 - 4:30 p.m. EST 

Estimated grant awards:                       Late July/Early August  2012

Program beginning date:                       August 15, 2012 

Program ending date:                            August 30, 2013

 

Eligibility Requirements (Not inclusive)

  • Incorporated nonprofit organization (Certificate from Office of Lt. Governor. Required prior to receiving sub-award agreement)
  • IRS tax-exempt 501c3 (not required, but if obtained must provide determination letter)
  • DUNS number, to obtain a DUNS number click on this website http://fedgov/dnb.com/webform 
  • Letter of Good Standing (from Office of the Lt. Governor)
  • Attend pre-grant award workshop (to be held on St. Thomas and St. Croix)
