VI Nonprofit Compliance Workshop Series

Participants who attend this initial workshop can select from other workshops in the series they would like to attend and fit within their schedules. Some examples of other workshops offered in the series include Filing for Tax-Exempt Status, The 990 Filing Process, Understanding Unrelated Business Expenses, and many others to help make your nonprofit a success.

 

Nonprofit Status and Tax Filing Overview
Beyond Visions Foundation (BVF) will be hosting a 6-hour workshop for nonprofit that includes 2 sessions. The first session will provide an Overview of the IRS 501c3 tax exemption for nonprofits and the second session will provide an Overview of the Modified and Simplified 990EZ for Most 501c3’s & Nonprofits. BVF anticipates offering this workshop on a semi-annual basis. At the end of the workshop, the participants will:

  • Understand the basic differences between a nonprofit and a 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofit
  • Understand the required “test” for 501c3 tax exempt status
  • Learn what determines a  private foundation or public charity status
  • Know what activities to avoid that may jeopardize your 501c3 status
  • Understand the changes to the 990EZ core form
  • Know the new schedules added to the 990EZ
  • Know what schedules apply to their organization
  • Get basic tips on e-filing
