Standards of Excellence Training (for Ethics & Accountability)
A series of workshops to help bring nonprofits meet the ethics and accountability standards and compliance required by either IRS or grant makers. The series includes the history and legislative background for the program and includes not only training, but providing documentation for governance and infrastructure for nonprofit organizations to meet these standards. The standards has eight (8) areas:1) Mission and Program; 2) Governing Body, 3) Conflict of Interest, 4) Human Resources, 5) Financial & Legal, 6) Openness, 7) Fundraising, and Public Affairs and Public Policy.

Board Capacity Building
Strategic Planning Session: Includes preliminary meeting with key officers and staff to discuss and review current organizational infrastructure and governance. Conducts a board assessment exercise. Conducts a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) session with a MS Powerpoint presentation and drafts the goals & objectives. Average length: Minimum of two days, preferably three days. Session will result in NPO's draft goals, objectives, and 3-year plan.

Basic Board Development: Workshop or seminar will focus and provide an overview of 1) the board’s basic role and responsibilities, 2) understanding the board roles in support versus its role as a governing body, 3) differentiating board’s role versus staff’s role, board and staff relationship, 4) the role of staff as it relates to board’s governance; and 5) how the mission assist the board’s role in governance and oversight.  In conclusion, the board will:

  •  Assess their understanding of the support, governance, and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Identify and understand the board's role in support versus governance
  • Identify what is "board driven" and what is "staff driven" 
  • Understand their legal and fiduciary requirements as it relates to ethics and accountability in nonprofts


Fiscal Agent/Fiduciary Sponsorship
Beyond Visions Foundation provide fiscal agent and fiduciary services utilizes a true fund and grants accounting services. MIP Fund Accounting from Sage Software is the software of choice by many major foundations and nonprofit organizations such as Make-a-Wish Foundation, Habitat for Humanities, United Way, and American Red Cross. Services includes set-up of accounting procedures including chart of accounts for fund accounting and grants management, design financial documents, preparation and submission of required program/projected financial statements: financial record-keeping; check processing and issuance for expenses; grant administration including progress reports; program implementation and grant administration related directly to mission-related programs and projects.

Fee Varies with length of grant and amount of monthly transactions.

Funding Research
Works in concert with the Corporation/Organization and/or other individuals or groups involved in the process of grant proposal development. Provide consultation with organization t develop proposal and program needs. Conducts database research for funding sources (limited to FC Search program for 60,000 foundations, corporate givers, and grant making public charities). Identify types of supports and areas of interest for funding from prospect listing. Reviews funding source guidelines and potential grant funders guidelines including but not limited to visiting websites, review IRS 990’s to insure match. Develops and provides listing of grant proposal funding prospect list. Prepare prospect list with applicable information to requesting organization.

Time frame: 2 weeks                                                               Fee: $1,500 for 5 prospects

Letter of Inquiry/Grant Proposal Writing
Description of Services: Consultation with organization to develop proposal and program needs. Identify data needed to develop program/project summary, project needs statement, agency description, program/project goals and objectives, program implementation and time lines, methods/activities to meet goals & objectives, program/project output and outcome measurements (future funding sources, and program/project budget. This service does not include development of evaluation plan.

Time frame: 2-4 months     
Letter of  Interest: $1,500 - $ 2,500                                Fee: Full Proposal: $2,500 -$7,500

Develop and Conduct Evaluation Plans
Based on the grant proposal the evaluation plan developed will primarily use the Logic Model as its starting point.  Evaluation plans may include pre and post evaluation measurements;  and short, intermediate, and long term outcome measurements. Evaluation plan will include performance measures for each objective (when applicable). BVF will work with the organization to determine which types of measurement tool (s) is applicable for project/program.

Time Frame: 3-6 weeks                                Fee: Ranges depending on complexity of project/program.

Application for Recognition of Exemption [IRS Tax-exempt 501(c)(3)]
Preparation of 1) IRS Form 1023 - Application for Recognition of Exemption (under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code;2) IRS Form 8718-User Fee for Exempt Organization -Determination Letter Request; and 3) IRS From 872-C - Consent Fixing Period of Limitation Upon Assessment of Tax. Beyond Visions Foundation will work with organization and conduct a 4-hour planning session to prepare and complete application form including required financial projections, short/long-term goals and objectives, articles of incorporation and bylaws. Fee does not include IRS filing fee ($500-600 approx.)
